John (Jack) Carter ’41

John (Jack) Carter ’41 August 22, 1923-December 26, 2003.

Jack was born in Bakersfield, California. He graduated from Cathedral High in 1941 and joined the US Navy in May of 1942 and stayed on until June of 1946. During his time in the Navy, he served about the USS Essex in the south and Central Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, and eight battle stars. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a life member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was the organizer and international representative for Machinist Union IAMAU until retiring in 1985. He was a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico at the time of his passing.
