This year we lost a great Phantom. Ray was an active student and carried that activism through his adult life. In 1962, Ray was elected the very first president of the CHS Alumni Association. In the 2012 gala magazine, Ray was quoted, “I got involved with the Alumni Association because I always felt I never left Cathedral”. Ever after 59 years, Ray was still involved with the Alumni Association. He participated in the monthly meetings and even led in the meeting’s opening prayer. Ray was also part of the “Friends of Cathedral”, which was the committee responsible for saving Cathedral in 1986.
Ray was also an accomplished pianist. He developed his love for music at Cathedral and was active with his church choir and music ensemble and often held music concerts. I remember Ray always passing out his CD’s at the monthly alumni meetings.
